Funnel Draw / Integrations / Pipedream

Funnel Draw + Pipedream

A Pipedream HTTP / Webhook trigger receives Funnel Draw's events, and a Node.js step can verify the FunnelDraw-Signature header before the rest runs. Any Pipedream workflow can also post sales and leads to Funnel Draw's incoming webhook.

How it works

Set it up

  1. Add an HTTP / Webhook trigger

In Pipedream, create a workflow, click Add Trigger and choose HTTP / Webhook (new requests). Pipedream gives the workflow its own URL on m.pipedream.net.

  2. Keep the raw body

In the trigger's settings, set Event Data to Raw Request if you will verify the signature, so the unparsed body is in steps.trigger.event.body.

  3. Add it in Funnel Draw

In Funnel Draw open Integrations → Webhooks → Add, paste the Pipedream URL, tick your events and save. Store the signing secret (shown once) as a secret in Pipedream.

  4. Send a test and verify

Click Send test in Funnel Draw and select the event in Pipedream. Add a Node.js step that computes HMAC-SHA256 of "<t>.<raw body>" with the whsec_… secret, compares it with v1 from the funneldraw-signature header, and ends the run if they differ.

  5. Add actions and deploy

Add the steps that should run, such as Slack or Google Sheets, and click Deploy.

  6. To send data in

In any workflow, add a Node.js step (or an HTTP request action) that POSTs JSON to your incoming webhook URL from Integrations → Incoming webhook, for example {"event": "purchase", "step": "Checkout", "value": 129}.

Ideas to try

Questions

Is a Pipedream HTTP endpoint public?

Yes by default: anyone with the URL can call it. Verifying FunnelDraw-Signature in a code step makes sure only Funnel Draw's requests go through.

Which bytes do I sign?

The string "<t>.<raw body>", where t is the timestamp from the header and the raw body is the request body exactly as received. Re-serialized JSON will not match.

Where do the events I send in appear?

In Funnel Draw under Integrations → Incoming webhook → recent events. Showing them on the funnel's steps is being built.
